Here it is, Part II! There is so much to see and do in New York. Although we didn’t get to see it all, we were still able to do so much. Here is a little run down of what we saw and thought of the places we were able to see. Enjoy!
The 9/11 Memorial was the number one spot I wanted to hit up while in NYC. I don’t even know how to explain how impressive yet heartbreaking it was. We spent 2 hours walking through the memorial reading and listening to the events of the 9/11 and the aftermath. I highly suggest spending some time walking through the memorial and around the pools.
Walking the Brooklyn Bridge was another very touristy but fun thing we did one afternoon. It has a great view of the Brooklyn and the Lower East Side. You can also see the Statue of Liberty from the Bridge, which was really cool to see since we didn’t make it out to Ellis Island. Apparently if you want to go in the Statue of Liberty, you have to buy tickets several months in advance.
Empire State Building
We decided to hit up the Empire State Building to watch the sunset over the city on our last night. It was so beautiful and cool to see all the skyscrapers from up high. We were between doing the top of the Rockefeller Center and Empire State and we decided to do the Empire State because it was a little higher up so you could see more. We were still able to walk around Rockefeller Center and watch them start to put up the Christmas tree and watch people skate. Rockefeller Center was really cool to walk around especially with the start of the Christmas season. We also almost got in to watch the SNL rehearsal but missed getting in by just a few people.
Other fun things to see
We also were able to walk through Central Park one afternoon, went to Times Square at night to see all the lights when it was dark out, see the Flatiron building, and I dragged my friends over to Bedford and Grove Street to see the outside of the apartment building from Friends because who doesn’t love Friends?! I had to feel like Rachel Green for just a little bit while in New York.
